Project work gives plenty of opportunity to travel, BUT: most of the time you don't get to choose the destination and working time is so long that you hardly have any time left for afterwork pleasures.

Then guess, what...? by the time we left the hotel, the weather got cold and rainy, so we started to look around for places to hide us from the bad weather, which wasn't too difficult in Madrid: one tapas bar next to each other, great atmposhere everywhere, people having fun on Saturday evening

Next day it was time to do some real sightseeing in the beautiful sunshine. We started off at Plaza de Toros with a tour at the Madrid's famous bull fighting stadium:

... and through the 'Parque del Retiro', a huge and beautifully maintained park in the heart of the city, with a lot of green grass and playing areas, lake with rental boats, vendors selling drinks, snacks, balloon swords and ice cream.

This park is definitely one of the not-to-miss attractions of the city, besides the popular city sights like the Palacio Real or Plaza Mayor.
Madrid is a great place to visit with beautiful buildings & parks, great food and drinks and charming atmosphere. It is the type of place where you can really enjoy life and well worthwhile visiting.
